Analysis of Existing School Magazines

Front Covers

Logo
The logo is included as one of the main images on the magazine cover. This emphasises the importance of this logo and perhaps just how widely the logo is recognised otherwise it would not have been included on such a vast scale.
Coverlines and Sell lines
The coverlines and sell lines included on this front cover are not very many. These cover and sell lines on the on the front cover are mere references suggesting this magazine is foucessed on the medical aspect of the school. The name of the university (Cambridge) is included only as a cover/ sell line rather than a masthead showing the school is popular enough to have the confidence to include the university name on such a small scale.
Images
The image of the campus establishes the school and gives the reader an accurate insight concerning the university's appearance. The bright quality of the image suggests the school is a hopeful place full of ambition and positivity which should inspire the readers to browse the magazine. The famous diagram/drawing connotes a high level of knowledge pertaining to this school and gives the readers a sense that the school is a high achieving school.
Colour Scheme
The colour scheme of the magazine cover is rather bright with a mixture of various colours with the colour of purple being the main colour. This may be due to the colour of purple being the theme colour or a popular colour of the university which reinforces an accurate identitiy conveyence from the impression of the magazine.

Logo
On this front cover the logo appears to be the main focus of the magazine. This suggests that the school is perhaps not so well known which explains why the logo needs to be the main focus in order to establish an identity with the readers and the public.
Extra text
There does not seem to be any cover lines or sell lines showing the organisation is quite confident that the magazine will be successfully read and that the interest levels of this magazine may have already been established with some individuals. The extra text included is the school name again reinforcing the need to form an identity with the public and the date of publishing. The date may have been included so that the readers know the relevance of the contents of the magazine.
Colour Scheme
The overall colour scheme of the magazine cover appears to be green. The colour green also covers the school logo suggesting the colour green may be the theme colour that best portrays the identity of the school. The colour green also connotes the idea of being natural and pure which are perhaps aspects the school supports.
Images
The images appears to represent all ages with the older generation on the top and the younger generation below. This layout of the magazine may also be an accurate conveyence of the hierachy within schools and the power adults have over children.

Contents Pages

Logo
The logo on this contents page is blended in behind the information the contents page includes. This is a way of representing the school as well as creating a successful contents page that guides readers throughout the magazine.
Images
The contents of the images seem to focus on students of the school completeing activities. This gives the reader an idea that this is what the magazine will mainly contain and focus. The images also connote the idea of students being involved with their school and enjoying their childhood education thus presenting the school as a rather positive one.
Text
The text includes titles followed by page numbers of where these titles can be found inside the magazine. Below these titles there is 'A message from the team' this creates a personal connection between the magazine authors and the readers causing the audience to also feel inolved in the school's activities.
Colour scheme
The colour scheme of the contents page is rather plain and simple. This may be due to the focus of the contents page being the text suggesting that colour may need to be made more simple in order for readers to focus on the informative text.

Logo
The logo is not disguised or blended in behind the information the contents page provides which suggests the importance of the school's identity still stands regardless of the whether it is presented on the back or the front of the magazine. The logo also makes the contetns page look quite legit and professional qualities i intend to incude in my preliminary final.
Images
Images seem to be of the school building and facilities the school has to offer. This suggests the magazine's main focus seems to be on publicising what the school has to offer to lure in the interests of the readers and the public.
Text
The text included on the contents page are what each page includes and their page numbers. The layout in which this information is included is shown to be rather clear increasing the level of interest through better general understanding.
Colour Scheme
The colour scheme of the contents page appears to be the colour of blue perhaps stemming from the theme colours of the school logo and emphasising the blue skies included in the establishing photo.
